A month ago I read a book called 'The Bodies Left Behind' written by Jeffery Deaver and I found a paragraph that I thought I'd better to take down. Here it is.
"People heard what they wanted to hear, saw what they wanted, believed what they wanted. But to exploit the weakness you had to be sharp, had to recognise their desires and expectations then subtly and cleverly feed them enough crumbs to make them think they were satisfied."
Let's make this clear. There was a politician (or business man) who wanted to be a president. The people then thought he might be the one who could rebuild the economy that, they believed, the former president had ruined. During a couple of months before the election, contrary to his steeply ascending popularity, the media had been keep showing what he has done which could(or should) have proved he is not a good guy. Despite the evidences backing up the lies he had fabricated while he was on the business, people seemed not to want to admit he is liar. They blinded themselves and believed the dreams he was creating, which now has turned out to be vain, hoping he might be well versed in economy simply because he had been a CEO at one of the biggest companies the country had produced. They were exploited by him who used their desires and expectations to feed them an illusion that he knew he could not make come true.
It is, however, likely that we will do what we did 2 years ago again at the next election. Because we are pointing our fingers only at the politicians for the crisis the country is now facing, wanting not to change ourselves at all.
