써스펜스란?

"서스펜스가 무엇인지 알려드릴게요.
네 사람이 포커를 하러 방에 들어갑니다.
갑자기 폭탄이 터져 네 사람 모두 뼈도 못 추리게 됩니다.
이럴 경우 관객은 단지 놀라기만 할 뿐이죠.
그러나 나는 네 사람이 포커를 하러 들어가기 전에
먼저 한 남자가 포커판이 벌어지는 탁자 밑에 폭탄을 장치하는 것을 보여줍니다.
네 사람은 의자에 앉아 포커를 하고 시한폭탄의 초침은 폭발 시간이 다 되어 갑니다.
이런 상황에서는 똑같이 무의미한 대화라도 관객의 주의를 더 끌 수 있는것이죠.
관객은 '지금 그런 사소한 얘기를 할 때가 아니야. 좀 있으면 폭탄이 터질 거란 말이야!'
하고 외치고 싶은 심정이 되니까요.
폭탄이 터지기 직전 게임이 끝나고 일어서려 하는데
그 중 한 사람이 말하죠.

'차나 한잔 하지.'

바로 이 순간 관객의 조바심은 폭발 직전이 됩니다.
이때 느끼는 감정이 바로 '서스펜스'라는 겁니다."

What's wrong with watching BBC News on TV?

My wife told me that whenever I watch the 'BBC World News' on TV, I am starting to be seen as an adorable person, I never thought I had been, not the one she has been constantly nagging at. Besides, she added that seeing an intelligent always stimulates her hidden sexual desire. So the question is...should I flip another channel to avoid being forced to crawl onto the bed to have an unwilling sex, or just stick to what I am into ignoring my wife's strong request?

황금가지의 <대실 해밋 전집>을 보며...

같은 출판사에서 이전에 나왔던 전집들을 생각한다. 그럴리가 절대로 없겠지만, 만약에라도 '아가사 크리스티'의 책들이 이번 '해밋' 전집과 같은 판본에 비슷한 디자인으로 나온다면 난 일주일에 한번 꼴로 하는 설렁탕 외식값을 줄여서라도 구매할 의사가 있다.

What makes you happy?

People tend to think happiness is too far away to catch. Why can't it be a part of joyful life to see a movie that makes me think about what justice really is or to take a bath in a public sauna just 10 meters away from my home or to get a book whose cover design is so beautiful that I couldn't help buying it. I did all of these today and I feel way more than happy now...

32-bit for 64-bit

How on earth do I not know that I've been using 32-bit IE for my 64-bit laptop. My wife once nearly threw the mouse she was holding as she found that the Internet speed is damn slow, and I blamed her saying it's because the trash programs from the commercial websites she had been regulary visiting. What a stupid dude I am!

개그의 조건

개그의 3가지 성립조건은 반전과 과장 그리고 반복. 하지만 이 셋에 모두 능한 이는 많지 않다. 대개의 경우, 어렵사리 반전을 성공 시키고 나서도 우물쭈물하다 과장과 반복의 타이밍을 놓쳐버리거나 또는 수위 조절에 실패해 역효과를 불러일으키게 된다

I was on the way to a book store listening to the world no.1 Podcast, Naggomsoo. This book, initially, wasn't on the buying list. However, by the time I listened to what the previous member of the National Assembly named Bongjoo-Jung, the writer of this book, had said to a journalist working for ‘Josunilbo’ on the phone, I couldn’t help but set my mind on getting this book. I very much loved the ‘F’ words he generated constantly on the talk which gave me explosive catharsis.
