The film factories have constantly been making efforts to figure the dreams people were always been hoping to realize since the movie 'The arrival of a train at La Ciotat' in 1895 -eligibly the first motion picture in one's history- which was so strange to the audiences, who had never experienced such a thing before, that they run out of the cinema in the middle of the screening. However, as far as I'm concerned, it may safely be said that they have been stuck in the mud recently, it's not the first time they have faced the difficulty though.
Let's go back to the time when 'Television' was started to launch into the world. The workers who had been making money from film industries begun to have a fear of possibility that the odd rectangular boxes ruined their business, which had been enormously prosperous and seemed to make more of progress in the future, if the small cubes occupied people's living rooms. But soon this apprehension was turned out to be just their groundless fear by the people who still wanted to go to the theater to see the Panavision movies in a big wide screen and to feel the magnificent sounds that came out of the super sized speakers for good measure, which were both not something they could get from the TVs.
Anyway, there might be a person who says like this, in this time it is not the 'TV' that causes the distress of dream factories but the expanding and widening of the capacity that internet network has gradually been creating from the beginning, which come up with the huge global entertainment websites such as 'YOU TUBE'. Since when we could afford to have our personal photographing equipments that range from the so-called 'Digital Camcorder' to the 'Subminiature Camera' which is enveloped in a cellular phone, we started to crave sharing the videos we made by ourselves, not the one the film production did for making money, with anyone in the world. Hence the 'YOU TUBE' that could have been created by this human's kind of normal instinct has become an gigantic exit of their excretions for which we used to use the cinemas, where the variety of human being's desires wriggle.
I'd better say I partly agree with this view that is the movie industry is on the rocks due to the monster websites on account of the other thing that make me bother to concur with, which is the 'Full Home Theater System' with 'High Definition TV' and 'High-End level speaker' that we couldn't dream to have about 10 years ago. Great amount of people who would go to the cinemas to see the new movies don't want to take the bothersome traveling any more, instead they want to let themselves to lie down on the comfortable couch in their living room, where The Home Theater System has been set up with hot DVD that has been played in cinemas just 3 month's ago and where they don't have to care the sounds of having popcorn or coke even spaghetti, which might be the one of the pleasure of visiting theaters. Therefore the numbers of people who want to join this group seem likely to increase as time goes by.
I suppose you may say, 'what is the problem? unless they get the source of excitement from the internet websites illegally, where a large number of movies are saved as a type of digital.' It could be true as you said, but the thing that I'm really concerned about this attitude is the chance that the cinemas are faded away. Honestly, I'm not quite sure whether it will make any difference in the future of film industry. But I want to make mention that the cinemas once have been a place where most of the American would like to go to forget their hard life when the 'Big Depression' put them into disastrous circumstances, therefore I really hope the cinemas will remain forever as a place that soothe our fatigued life.
